Types Of Virtual Reality Systems

Virtual reality systems mainly divided into three categories.

      I.               IMMERSIVE SYSTEMS

The Immersive systems provide an artificial environment that replaces the real environment surrounding and it engages the user with creating near to believe interacting with real-world environment. Immersive systems used devices for use to input and track the movement of user input for simulation in Virtual reality [6]. CAVE is an example of an immersion system. This type of system encases audio and visual perception of the user and cuts it out from the real environment so that the user used the virtual system fully immersive. The advantage of these systems is simulated the real environment without physical interaction with the real system which decreases the danger or other incidents which could be done in real environment. Users can feel full immersion of VR with feeling of real environment. Disadvantages of immerse systems include expensive and High quality images. Some examples of these systems are VR Gaming and VR Flight.

    II.               NON IMMERSIVE SYSTEM

Non immersive system based on Visual Display units such as monitors, so this system is also called desktop virtual reality. These screens are used to view the system to user without using of devices like HMD. Most widely used non immersive system use desktop system that is usually consist of computer monitor to display the VR environment to the user.These system however not very effective as compared to immersive system but these system are less expensive, good graphic quality, occupy little space and provides user convenience. Non immersive system used in health, aviation, education, training, military and video gaming.

III.    SEMI IMMERSIVE SYSTEM

Semi Immersive systems are called hybrid systems. These systems include desktop computer and VR devices. This system includes a small monitor screen or large projector based screen. High Quality graphics and large screen views make feel the users like immersive and feel the virtual environment like real world environment. Semi immersive system provide excellent sense of real environment as compared to the non-immersive system so these systems relatively implemented more as compared to non-immersive systems. Fully equipped semi immersive systems consist of tracking sensors, devices and user interfaces. Mouse, Joystick, keyboards are used for input activity by the user and wear glasses and other VR devices are used interaction.
